Women's Glee Club, 1951-1952

The Women's Glee Club was established in November 1949, after the admittance of female students to the school in the fall of 1948, and was initially conducted by Tom Skeffington. Jeanne Foster was the first elected manager of the club, began to direct the club in  1952, and directed both the Men's and Women's Glee Clubs in 1953. The Women's Glee Club traveled and competed primarily in the Northwest region, and placed in the Fred Waring Sacred Heart competition in 1952 along with the Men's Glee Club. In 1953, they performed a winter concert at the Post Theater, breaking a twenty-year tradition of the Men's Glee Club perfoming the winter concert. The Men's Glee Club recieved much more attention and documentation regarding their activities and achievements, so there is less information about the history of the Women's Glee Club.
